Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is a roller conveyor?
A roller conveyor is a series of rollers mounted in a frame that moves cases, totes, cartons or pallets along a set path, either by gravity or by powered rollers. Addverb's roller conveyor range includes spur, curve, belt-over-roller, gravity, accumulation and pallet roller conveyors. They suit heavier, non-fragile items with flat, solid bottoms, and they link production, packing, storage and shipping areas. -
What is a pallet conveyor system?
A pallet conveyor system is a network of heavy-duty powered conveyors, transfers and turntables that moves loaded pallets automatically between production, storage, wrapping and dispatch areas without forklifts. Addverb's pallet conveyors combine roller and chain conveyors, 90° pop-up transfers, turntables and pallet stackers into one controlled flow. Each section routes, rotates or lifts pallets so they arrive aligned for the next process. -
Should I choose a pallet roller conveyor or a pallet chain conveyor?
Choose a pallet roller conveyor when pallets travel in the direction their bottom boards run, and a pallet chain conveyor when pallets travel crosswise to the boards or are less stable, because chains support the pallet along its runners. Most layouts use both, with chain transfers and turntables at junctions. Addverb's pallet roller conveyor carries up to 700 kg per metre at up to 0.3 m/s. -
Can pallet conveyors connect to an ASRS or palletiser?
Yes, Addverb's pallet conveyors are designed to link production lines, palletisers, stretch wrappers and automated storage such as a 4-way pallet shuttle or crane ASRS into one continuous flow. The pallet roller conveyor handles pallets up to 1,240 x 1,440 mm, and turntables and transfers route each pallet to the right infeed. Warehouse control software tracks each pallet as it moves. -
Should I choose a roller conveyor or a belt conveyor?
Choose a roller conveyor for cases, totes and cartons with firm, flat bottoms that need to accumulate or be diverted, and a belt conveyor for polybags, small, soft or irregular items and inclines. Roller conveyors have fewer moving parts than belt conveyors, which lowers maintenance and energy use. Addverb also offers belt-over-roller conveyors, which combine a belt surface with a roller-supported frame.
