What is a 2-way pallet shuttle and how does it work?
A 2-way pallet shuttle is a battery-powered cart that runs on rails inside a deep storage lane, carrying pallets in and out so forklifts never drive into the racking. A forklift places Addverb's Cruiser at the lane entrance and loads pallets onto it. Cruiser then lifts each pallet, carries it to the next free position and lowers it, handling up to 1,500 kg at 1.1 m/s. -
Is a 2-way pallet shuttle the same as a radio shuttle?
Yes, 2-way pallet shuttle, radio shuttle and semi-automated pallet shuttle are common names for the same system: a shuttle that moves pallets along one deep lane while forklifts work only in the main aisle. The name radio shuttle comes from the remote control often used to command it. Addverb's Cruiser receives commands wirelessly over 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi. -
Does a 2-way pallet shuttle support FIFO or LIFO?
A 2-way pallet shuttle supports both: LIFO when pallets are loaded and unloaded from the same aisle, and FIFO when you load at one end of the lane and unload at the other. Addverb's Cruiser handles either method, so you can match stock rotation to your products. FIFO suits date-sensitive goods such as food and pharmaceuticals, while LIFO saves an aisle and suits non-perishable stock. -
How deep can 2-way pallet shuttle lanes be?
Addverb's Cruiser 2-way pallet shuttle works in storage lanes up to 60 m deep, removing most aisles from the racking layout and multiplying storage density compared with selective racking. Each lane typically holds one SKU, so the system suits products stored in many pallets each. Cruiser is rated at 60 pallets per hour on a 30 m track and comes in several variants for different pallet sizes. -
How long does a 2-way pallet shuttle battery last, and can it work in a freezer?
Addverb's Cruiser 2-way pallet shuttle runs on a 25.6 V, 54 Ah battery that recharges in about 4 hours, and it operates from -25 °C to +45 °C, so it works in freezers as well as ambient stores. Plan spare batteries or charging windows for multi-shift operations. In cold rooms, deep lanes reduce the space you refrigerate and keep forklifts out of the racking.
