Operators had to walk long distances across widespread inventory zones, causing fatigue and inefficiency. Moreover, the dispersed storage layout raised rental costs and limited throughput.
Addverb designed this Automated Wholesale Distribution Centre to address these challenges by modernizing its warehouse processes to enable faster order cycles, better accuracy, and scalable growth through a fully automated storage and goods-to-person picking system that streamlines operations, enhances precision, and supports long-term scalability.
Addverb’s solution at S. Abraham and Sons Wholesale Distribution Centre deployed a Carton Shuttle ASRS to efficiently manage 14,400 SKU totes across three aisles and 4,800 order totes in a dedicated aisle, enabling streamlined inventory handling and order consolidation. Its modular design maximizes space and allows easy layout changes.
To make sure of the high-speed, accurate picking across storage zones, Carton Shuttles were combined with Multi-Level Shuttles (MLS). Additionally, eight decanting stations were installed to process up to 480 fresh totes per hour, supporting continuous inbound flow.
Built to reduce manual effort and adapt to fluctuating SKU profiles, the solution is powered by Addverb’s Warehouse Execution System (WES), which manages inventory movement and performance in real time. This integration of robotics and software delivers higher throughput, picking accuracy, and scalable growth.
