Mondial Relay faced challenges due to limited manpower and a shortage of new facilities in France to accommodate business growth. As a result, they aimed to optimise their sorting processes within existing space constraints.
The objectives for this initiative included boosting productivity by automating the sorting process to enhance throughput and streamline operations, as well as addressing the need to sort more parcels efficiently within limited space.
Another key goal was to improve working conditions by integrating a robotic sortation system to alleviate the physical demands of handling heavy parcels, thereby enhancing workplace ergonomics and reducing strain on employees.
Mondial Relay implemented Addverb’s advanced sorting robot, Zippy, to enhance parcel sorting efficiency. They initially deployed 62 Zippy 10 robots, achieving an impressive throughput of 2,500 sorts per hour. Building on this success, they added 10 more robots, further increasing the throughput to over 3,000 sorts per hour.
The robotic sortation system leverages AI-driven features such as ground marker navigation, traffic management, dynamic re-routing, and obstacle detection. The Fleet Management System (FMS) supports optimal performance with a Battery Management System that ensures a minimum battery level of 45% and includes a simulation feature for site layout and throughput estimation.
The Robotic Sortation system, featuring Zippy robots, delivers exceptional Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that significantly enhance warehouse operations.
