Beyond the high-precision manufacturing lines producing 60,000 <a href=\"https:\/\/addverb.com\/us\/automated-warehouse-robots\/\">warehouse robots <\/a>annually, a dense, thriving stretch of green awaits you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This isn&#8217;t a decorative lawn or a manicured garden. It is a <b data-path-to-node=\"5\" data-index-in-node=\"60\">Miyawaki micro forest, <\/b>a self-sustaining, high-density ecosystem that transforms how we approach industrial sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Why We Chose the Miyawaki Approach<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The Miyawaki method\u00a0was\u00a0originated in Japan in the 1970s through the work of botanist Dr. Akira Miyawaki. His research\u00a0was\u00a0focused on understanding what native forests\u00a0looked\u00a0like before urbanisation changed natural landscapes. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">His conclusion was very\u00a0simple\u00a0but\u00a0equally\u00a0powerful. If you want to restore degraded land, you should not beautify it. You should rebuild the ecosystem that originally belonged there.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><iframe title=\"Sustainable Ecosystems: Addverb's Miyawaki Forest Initiativehas context menu\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/plrpB-ZyDUg\" width=\"1335\" height=\"751\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The technique differs significantly from conventional plantation drives.\u00a0In this technique, trees are not planted\u00a0in neat rows\u00a0or\u00a0with wide spacing,\u00a0but instead\u00a0Miyawaki micro forests are\u00a0think,\u00a0dense and layered. The method\u00a0of plantation\u00a0involves:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Planting native and climate-suitable species<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Generate a very high-density plantation, by almost planting three saplings per square metre<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Creating forest layers such as shrubs, sub-trees, canopy trees<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Enriching soil with organic biomass before\u00a0starting the\u00a0plantation<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Avoiding\u00a0use of\u00a0chemical fertilisers and pesticides<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">As the&nbsp;saplings are planted close together, they compete for sunlight&nbsp;absorption. This competition encourages vertical growth and stronger root development. Over time, the forest becomes self-sustaining and requires minimal maintenance. In many cases, growth&nbsp;of the forest&nbsp;is significantly faster than&nbsp;any&nbsp;conventional plantation&nbsp;methods,&nbsp;even&nbsp;biodiversity recovery is quicker&nbsp;than any conventional methods.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">What appealed to us&nbsp;most&nbsp;was this method does not create a manicured garden&nbsp;which only looks good.&nbsp;But it creates a&nbsp;fully&nbsp;functioning ecological system.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">What We Built at Bot-Verse<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">At <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/eLTQb39OEvw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">our manufacturing facility<\/a>, we developed a micro forest with around 3,500 trees covering more than 25 native species. The diversity was intentional to occupy different layers and support different forms of wildlife which supports the entire concept of Miyawaki micro forest scheme.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The preparation stage took&nbsp;some&nbsp;time&nbsp;as&nbsp;ensuring soil health was a priority. The land was loosened and enriched with organic biomass to improve water retention, aeration&nbsp;process, and microbial activity. Healthy soil ensures strong root systems&nbsp;thus&nbsp;determining&nbsp;long-term survival&nbsp;of the plantation.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Saplings were planted densely,&nbsp;at least&nbsp;three per square metre. This density might appear crowded at first, but it mirrors how forests grow in&nbsp;natural ecosystem. The close spacing allows trees to support one another while competing for light, which accelerates upward growth.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Biodiversity Mix<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We chose a deliberate mix of shade-giving, flowering, and fruit-bearing trees, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:66.66%\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><p data-path-to-node=\"16,2,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"16,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Michelia champaca &amp; Ficus varieties<\/b> (Canopy density and wildlife shelter)<\/p><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><p data-path-to-node=\"16,1,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"16,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Cassia fistula &amp; Delonix regia<\/b> (Vibrant flowering for pollinators)<\/p><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><p data-path-to-node=\"16,0,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"16,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Neem &amp; Pongamia<\/b> (Air purification and hardiness)<\/p><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Rapid Transformation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The land changed rapidly. Within three months, visible greening began. By the six-month mark, the site felt like a young forest. The mango trees.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Unlike the other saplings, these were not freshly&nbsp;planted,&nbsp;but they were carefully&nbsp;relocated&nbsp;from another location and&nbsp;planted again&nbsp;into the micro forest. Transplanting established trees is always more complex than planting&nbsp;new ones. The root ball must be preserved carefully. The soil at the new site must be prepared&nbsp;in such a way that it reduces&nbsp;transplant shock. After relocation&nbsp;to new site, the trees&nbsp;need&nbsp;consistent observation and care during the adaptation phase.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Transplanting established trees requires precision. We carefully preserved the root balls and prepared the new soil to reduce <b data-path-to-node=\"22\" data-index-in-node=\"126\">transplant shock<\/b>.
